So I saw this phrase and I instantly knew it embodied all that is Zachary Forrest.  It just takes his personality and his demeanor and sums it up in 6 little words.

“I’m pretty much a big deal.

It makes him sound really pompous and pretty much like a jerkass, but he’s not.  I swear.  He is, however, very talented and has a way of making even the worst emotions, the most terrible circumstances, and the most heartbreaking scenarios sound downright poetic.  That may be because he is a poet.

shannon weaver.bmpHe finished his first collection of poetry and it’s entitled In Bed with Shannon-Weaver.  In general I’m not big on poetry, I’m more of a novel kind of girl (he’s written one of those too), but I think his poetry is incredible.  It’s like tasting a wine.  You try it, it’s wonderful, you love it and you know instantly that it’s a good wine.  But then someone comes along and explains all of the nuances and subtleties in the wine that make it better than wonderful, that make it amazing.  That’s how I feel when I read his poetry.

What’s weird is how proud I am.  I’ve had boyfriends (even fiancés) before and I was never really proud of the things they valued most.

You’re the 2000 Mr. All Natural Southwest ….uhhhh, cool?
You were just asked to pose for a nude gay magazine spread….ok.
You painted flames on a cowboy hat…nice.
You have a collection of wolf figurines….wow.

But I honestly was never impressed with their accomplishments.  Not like I am with Zach’s book or his poetry.   It’s strange to be proud of a talent that’s not mine, an accomplishment I didn’t help with, and a person I’ve only known a short time.  But trust me.  Buy it, read it, and you’ll see.  He’s pretty much a big deal.
