So I saw this phrase and I instantly knew it embodied all that is Zachary Forrest.  It just takes his personality and his demeanor and sums it up in 6 little words.

“I’m pretty much a big deal.

It makes him sound really pompous and pretty much like a jerkass, but he’s not.  I swear.  He is, however, very talented and has a way of making even the worst emotions, the most terrible circumstances, and the most heartbreaking scenarios sound downright poetic.  That may be because he is a poet.

My Flinty Ways

I think I’m kind of like flint.  But only one little piece of flint.

flint.jpgFlint by itself is just another rock, but put it context it’s volatile.  You strike one thing against it and you get a spark and you can start a fire.  I say that I’m like flint because I react very ummmm, enthusiastically to things.  I’d like to say that I feel things very deeply, stuff affects me even when it shouldn’t.  It’s why I cry at every single movie where someone falls in love, or someone loses a love, or a friend, or when someone gets defeated, or when someone gets hurt, or when…..you get the point.  (more…)

I don’t think anyone should have to visit a place whose name sounds like Misery.

If you don’t know, I’m talking about Missouri and yes, I’m visiting there this weekend. Let me clarify, I’m driving about 10 hours through the night, to stay for a day and a half and then I’m driving about 10 hours back. I guess you could call that visiting.

It’s happening over Easter weekend. While Easter isn’t much of an active holiday, I still feel like it’s wrong to spend it driving. I keep telling Zach I’ll hide eggs in the car and we can look for them. He doesn’t laugh.

Growing up, I never heard the phrase, “if you don’t have something nice to say, don’t say anything at all.
It’s not that my family was mean or rude, we just understood the undeniable truth that sometimes things need to be said that aren’t pleasant to hear. It’s one of the biggest things I respect about my family.  I know that no matter what, they’re going to be honest with me, even if I don’t want to hear it.

That knowledge has given me an overwhelming sense of security.  It has also given me an overwhelming pain in my ass. (more…)
